What the company builds
Impack CPR makes a portable training puck for CPR training. The device combines haptic feedback, light guidance and an app powered by artificial intelligence. Hospitals and ambulance services make up the target market, and the company aims to reduce deaths from cardiac arrest.
CPR training is given in a class, on a manikin, in a room and on a date set in advance. The technique is assessed by the instructor's eye, and practice stops when the class ends.
The product
The team is designing a device small enough to carry around, which reacts during the exercise: haptic feedback and light guidance correct the technique as it is performed. An app powered by artificial intelligence goes with the device. The person training keeps control of their practice pace.
What it changes in practice
- CPR practice leaves the classroom, because the puck can be carried.
- The technique is corrected during the exercise, because the device responds with vibration and light at the moment of compression.
- A service can have its staff practise without bringing in an instructor for every session, because the feedback comes from the device.
