Croissance

Croissance is for hardtech companies that have validated their market and are now preparing to scale: industrializing production, the first recurring sales, building out the team, and getting ready to raise.

Structured support that turns a validated product into an industrial company

Industrialization · sales · fundraising · team

What is included

Every company in Croissance carries on with its Garage Readiness Level, our diagnostic. At this stage, the diagnostic concentrates on the dimensions that decide whether a company can scale: production capacity, commercial traction and financial strength. We build the support plan from that reading, and the company uses the same reading as common language with its industrial partners and its investors.

The five workstreams

Industrialization

We support the move from the validated product to series production: choosing production partners, design for manufacturing, quality control, supply chain management. At this stage our network of more than sixty Quebec and Canadian manufacturers becomes a network of production partners, not only prototyping ones.

Commercial validation

We work with each company on building its sales pipeline: turning pilots into contracts, shaping the offer and the price, first recurring customers. The goal is traction you can show, the kind that convinces an investor or an industrial partner with numbers rather than promises.

Fundraising preparation

Our funding team prepares companies for their round: shaping the narrative, building the financial model, positioning the valuation, putting together the data room. We then open the doors of our investor network, when the company is ready, because a first impression does not get a second take.

Building the team

A company that scales changes in nature: the founders hire their first managers, hand off what they used to do themselves and put governance in place. We support these transitions, from hiring senior roles to preparing the first board of directors.

Experts in residence

Companies in Croissance work with our entrepreneurs in residence and our experts on the defining decisions of this stage: negotiating a production contract, a valuation trade-off, an executive hire. These experts have lived through these decisions in their own companies, and their role is to help avoid the mistakes that cost eighteen months.

Who this program is for

You are selling, and you still build one unit at a time

Your sales are signed and delivered, and your first production run is behind you. Each lot costs too much and takes too much engineering time to hold at the scale you are aiming for.

Your production still depends on the founders

You are producing, but your processes are undocumented, your quality rests on individuals, and your governance is still to be built. Your absence alone is enough to stop the line.

You are preparing a raise on numbers you cannot yet defend

Investors are talking to you, and you cannot yet defend your unit cost at volume, your margin at scale or your production schedule. A hardtech investor checks all three in the first conversations.

The community

Part of what moves a hardtech project forward comes from the community: the other founders, the manufacturers and the experts in the same room. We include these gatherings in all three programs.

in small groups

Peer-to-peer sessions

Founders who live with the same constraints meet in a small group, without our team in the room.

Meetups

Founders, manufacturers and investors meet in the same room.

Workshops

In each session, one company brings a case and leaves with an answer it can apply.

Frequently asked questions

Who is Croissance for?

Croissance is for hardtech companies that have validated their market with first sales or conclusive pilots, and that are now preparing their industrialization and their raise. Companies that still have a market to validate belong in Incubation, and companies at the technical feasibility stage start with Connect.

How does a company move from Incubation to Croissance?

The move rests on the GRL diagnostic. When a company shows a product the market has validated and the capacity to deliver, we shift its support plan to the questions of growth: volume production, commercial traction, the raise. Companies can also enter Croissance directly when their stage warrants it.

Does Garage&co help companies raise?

Yes. We prepare companies for the round: the narrative, the financial model, the valuation, the pitch. We then make targeted introductions across our investor network. We open the doors, and the company runs its own negotiations, because the relationship with an investor belongs to the founders.

Does the program cover industrializing production?

Yes. Industrialization is one pillar of the program: choosing production partners from our network of more than 60 manufacturers, design for manufacturing, quality control and supply chain. We support companies through to their first volume production contracts.

Does Garage&co work in cohorts?

No. Companies enter the program continuously, when they are ready, and we build each support plan to measure from the GRL diagnostic. Each company keeps its own calendar, and we impose no demo day.

How long does Croissance run?

The length depends on what each company sets out to do: a raise, a first volume production contract and a market expansion do not follow the same calendar. We set milestones specific to each company in the support plan, and the program ends when the company reaches them.

How much does Croissance cost?

The price depends on what you ask of us, and it starts at CA$4,000 a year. The amount follows the expertise the company draws on and how intensively it draws on it. We set the price after the first meeting, once we have chosen the workstreams with you.

Does Garage&co take equity in the companies it supports?

No. Garage&co is a not-for-profit organization and takes no equity in the companies it supports.
