Arlyx

Arlyx designs autonomous utility vehicles for mining and industrial environments. The robots are modular and semi-autonomous, and carry consumables around the site. They replace the round trips a worker makes today to bring this material.

Today, moving consumables takes up labour and exposes workers to the risks of the mine site. Each trip uses work hours that do not go to production, and it happens in an environment where people's safety is the first constraint.

The product

The team is designing a modular vehicle that the operator configures for the task and the site. The vehicle moves semi-autonomously, which keeps a person in the decision loop. The operator stays in control of routes and priorities; the vehicle handles the trip.

What it changes in practice

• The labour hours spent carrying consumables go down, because the vehicle makes the trip.
• Workers' exposure to traffic areas drops, because the run happens with no one on board.
• One vehicle covers several tasks, because the platform is modular.
