EurekIA makes an idea catcher and the mobile app that goes with it. The catcher is shaped like an egg held in the hand, with a small bell: it drops when the person falls asleep, and the sound wakes them up. The app then records what they say and transcribes it into text. The company intends the device for creative professionals, designers, engineers and researchers.

Ideas that come at the edge of sleep are forgotten on waking. There is no moment to write them down, since the person is asleep. The company draws on tools from neuroscience to step in at that exact moment.

The product

The team is designing the catcher and the app. The app works, is available on Android and iOS, in a free version and a Pro version; a collaborative ideation workshop is in development. Transcription happens on the phone, which keeps the content of the ideas with the user.

What it changes in practice

• The idea that comes while falling asleep is kept as text, because the waking caused by the device's fall is immediately followed by a recording.
• The person does not have to wake up on their own to take notes, because the bell rings when the hand relaxes.
• The content of the ideas does not leave the user's device, because transcription happens locally on the phone.
