ShareCharge connects owners of private charging stations with electric vehicle drivers. Owners list their station and charge for its use; drivers find it from a mobile app. The company thus decentralizes the existing charging infrastructure instead of adding to it.

Stations already installed in people's homes only serve their owners. A driver who has no station at home depends on the public network. Infrastructure that is already paid for and installed is therefore underused.

The product

The team is developing a mobile app that lists private stations and makes them available to drivers. A prototype works and a pilot project is under way in Quebec. The owner keeps the station and decides to make it available; the app handles the matching and the payment.

What it changes in practice

• Stations already installed become available to other drivers, because their owners can list them in the app.
