What the company builds

Onuà World makes indoor aquaponic gardens, which bring together a fish tank and grow beds in a single water circuit. The company installs them in workplaces, schools, seniors' residences, hotels and municipal buildings. The garden grows without soil, substrate or pods.

An aquarium needs a filter, and that filter has to be changed and cleaned. Growing in containers needs soil or a substrate, which has to be replaced. Both tasks come back at regular intervals. In the aquaponic garden, the plants play the role of the filter, which removes both tasks.

The product

The team is designing a tank and grow beds connected by a continuous flow of water. The fish produce the nutrients, the plants absorb them through clay pebbles that host the bacteria, and the filtered water returns to the tank. A mobile app monitors the garden in real time and manages how it runs. Customers choose what they grow: they start from their own seeds or houseplants, mix flowers, herbs and vegetables, and remove or replant any plant at any time. The company provides installation, maintenance and workshops.

What it changes in practice

  • Filter maintenance disappears, because the plants capture the fish waste and oxygenate the water instead.
  • The harvest stays continuous, because nutrients arrive without interruption and a plant that is removed can be replanted right away.
  • The garden runs for years without being emptied or cleaned, because the water circulates in a loop and the nutrients are recycled in the circuit.
