Baumier

Baumier designs and builds road bikes and carbon wheels in Montréal. The B01 frame joins carbon tubes and 3D-printed titanium lugs. The bikes and wheels come with a lifetime warranty. The company serves road, gravel, touring, triathlon and ultra-endurance cyclists. The bike is assembled to order and shipped within eight weeks of purchase.

The company names the limit of the material it uses. Carbon offers high performance, but it is derived from fossil fuels and remains hard to recycle in Canada at the end of its life. Its founder adds that the pursuit of short-term financial performance too often comes at the expense of living things. Baumier answers with durability: its products come with a lifetime warranty, and it is committed to developing a repairable frame.

The product

The team, of five to ten people, designs the bikes and makes the rims in Montréal, on a reusable wax mandrel. The customer chooses the model and configuration, then receives emails while the bike is being built. A full refund is available until the production date is confirmed. The lifetime warranty covers the delivered product.

What it changes in practice
